Simulated Game Day at Gorcombe

Here at Gorcombe we’ve been running simulated game shoots now in excess of 15 years and have learnt a thing or two on the road. We believe we now have the closest thing to a varied day’s shooting as only game shooting can truly supply.

As well as using all the contours and topography of the 350-acre estate to produce these testing targets, we have built some 9 towers in our attempts to make our birds higher, faster and a little more challenging.

We only use manual trappers so they can alter each individual target as you would expect from a game bird, they can speed them up, slow them down, throw them high or low or just in a completely different direction!

There are no trailers of automatic traps throwing the same tired clay from the same place so the quickest shot has all the sport.

The guns are all placed a reasonable 21 yards apart so you can steal the occasional neighbour’s bird but won’t be totally bemused as to whose bird it is!

There is also the infamous rabbit drive and those special charity red rabbits, and of course the super high clump drive consistently throwing proper driven birds in excess of 60 metres, not just stopping on top of you but travelling a long distance beyond! Even our Olympic champion and world champions have missed these!

This day enables each gun to shoot well in excess of 450 shots if they wish, with 8 enjoyable drives and all the refreshments you could wish for including a three course meal at the end of your exhilarating day!
